WOW Day to thank SES volunteers

SES volunteers

22 May, 2019

Today is WOW Day, a national day of recognition and appreciation for State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers across Australia, who devote their time and energy to helping others when floods, storms, fires and other disasters strike, 24/7.

There are more than 5,500 SES volunteers across Queensland, from all walks of life, with more than 400,000 hours donated to our state’s communities since July last year.

SES volunteers often have to spend time away from their own families to keep others safe in difficult conditions and tense situations. Their effort and commitment is without question and I would like each Queensland State Emergency Service volunteer to know their contribution is appreciated.
