15 May, 2019 –
I encourage families here in Stafford to pull on their sneakers and enjoy this wonderful late Autumn weather by walking the kids to school this Friday for ‘Walk safely to school day’.
Walking is not only enjoyable, it’s also a great way to lead a healthy lifestyle and help reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
This is also a great way to teach young children how to cross roads safely and build their skills in how to react safely in different traffic circumstances.
We need to teach children how to be active by example, which is even more important in this age of electronic devices.
I hope that many local families take part in ‘Walk safely to school day’, and I hope even more will take up the challenge to make walking a part of their daily routine – either walking from home, or if it’s a long commute, choosing to walk some of the distance to school.
