Turnbull Government’s $2.3 billion cut to Prince Charles and Metro North Hospital and Health Service

30 March 2016 –

The Queensland Labor Government is fighting billions of dollars in funding cuts from the Federal Coalition Government. We are demanding that the Federal Government reverse their decision to cut $11.8 billion from Queensland’s public hospital funding.

Despite promising no cuts to health, the Federal Coalition Government’s first budget cut $57 billion of funding for Australia’s public hospitals over ten years.

For our community this means $2.3 billion is being ripped out of the Prince Charles Hospital, the Royal Brisbane Hospital, and the rest of the Metro North Hospital and Health Service.

If they go ahead these cuts will start to take effect from next year and will compound over time. Mr Turnbull and the Federal Government have a chance to do the right thing by Queenslanders at this week’s COAG and reinstate the funding for public hospitals.
