State Budget to help stop domestic violence

The Palaszczuk Labor Government has announced a range of initiatives aimed at ending domestic and family violence.

One person every week dies in Australia as a result of family and domestic violence. The Queensland Government is allocating $31.3 million over the next three years as part of the Queensland Budget to help reduce this shocking statistic.

Measures announces as part of the Budget include:

  • Additional funding for legal services to assist victims of domestic and family violence
  • Enhanced death review processes to reduce future deaths
  • Establishing dedicated 72-hour crisis shelters in Brisbane
  • Supporting the national campaign to reduce violence against women and children.
