17 December, 2018 –
You don’t need to venture far to buy great Christmas presents (or even a little something for yourself). Stafford’s small businesses have some great gift options and just a few of these are listed below:
Homewares from local makers
The Creative Collective on Hayward Street has a great range of gifts from talented local makers from South East Queensland – from large furniture pieces, to handmade ceramics, homewares, and crafts – and they have gift vouchers available.
Coffee for the hamper
Visit Lachlan at Q Roasters on Wolverhampton Street for some delicious coffee or coffee inspired gifts for the Christmas hamper (and grab a takeaway coffee while you’re there). Q Roasters source coffee from producers that endorse Organic, Fair Trade Organic and Rainforest Alliance practices, or from Estates which support sustainable agriculture. The unique flavour of their blends means there’s a coffee perfect for everyone.
Give a bunch
If you’re not sure what get your special someone then drop in at That Flower Shop, at the heart of The Soul Pantry’s warehouse on Wolverhampton Street or to the Northside Flower Market on Windorah Street. These floristry teams can work with you to create something unique.
You can’t beat local cheese when friends and family drop by at Christmas. The Cheeseboard (pictured) can also be found inside The Soul Pantry’s warehouse on Wolverhampton Street. Wendy Downes, the founder, studied affinage in France and enjoys all cheeses, but her passion is Australian cheeses. Especially unique cheeses made by small producers.
Have a look at Revival Art and Design Gallery on Gilbert Road in Lutwyche – their Summer Soirée Group Show runs until 23 December. There is plenty to like at the gallery, including large and small canvases, sculpture and ceramics on display from mostly Brisbane based Artists.
