Queensland’s renewable energy commitment

18 May 2017 –

I’m proud to be part of a government that is committed to transitioning to a cleaner greener renewable energy economy while maintaining affordability for Queenslanders.

The Palaszczuk Government is committed to increasing the uptake of renewable energy throughout the state as a vital step towards reducing emissions and mitigating climate change while creating new jobs and diversifying the state’s economy.

In the last year more than 1 gigawatt of new, large-scale renewable energy projects have been committed, primarily located in regional Queensland. These projects will deliver around 2,000 direct jobs and a $2 billion investment to the state.

Already under construction in Queensland are 9 solar and bagasse projects worth $964.5 million, providing 432 megawatts to our energy grid and bringing 750 jobs.

I remain committed to ensuring a just transition, working closely with our workers, industry and broader community to ensure all Queenslanders are part of our clean energy future.
