Qantas Dreamliners call Brisbane home

Queensland will be home to the East Coast and Pacific operations of Qantas’ newest aircraft, the Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner, under a deal secured by the Palaszczuk Government.

The decision by Qantas to base half its Dreamliner fleet in Brisbane, will support 470 jobs, and is a testament to Queensland’s place in the airline’s future and past: November will mark 97 years since Qantas was founded in Winton, and 95 years since the airline flew its first schedule passenger service from Longreach to Cloncurry.

The four Dreamliners based in Brisbane are collectively worth $1 billion and are a new generation of highly efficient, ultra-long range passenger aircraft.

The 120 flight and cabin crew who will fly the Dreamliner will also be based in Brisbane, with the crew base also supporting an additional 350 jobs.
