National Road Safety Week – Drive so others survive

National Road Safety 2018

30 April, 2018 –

Road safety is something that affects us all, whether we’re on two wheels, four wheels, or more wheels – or sitting in the passenger seat.

This week is National Road Safety Week (30 April – 6 May). You can make a difference by wearing a yellow ribbon or attaching one to your vehicle. The yellow ribbon reminds us that we can all make a difference and help save lives just by driving safely.

Brisbane landmarks, including Parliament House, the Story Bridge and the Gateway Bridge will be lit yellow during the week to complement nationally lit landmarks.

National Road Safety Week recognises the 1,200 Australians who die on our roads and more than 30,000 who are seriously injured.

As Queenslanders we agree that we should all be more tolerant on the road. The “Thanks Queensland” movement is all about celebrating courteous drivers. It’s a thank-you wave on a statewide scale. Because no matter how we get around, we all need to get along.
