18 December 2015 –
The Palaszczuk Labor Government is committed to reducing the road toll and has announced an extra $102.2 million over four years for road safety.
These funds are coming from the Camera Detected Offence Program and will be directed towards targeted road safety infrastructure.
2014 was a record low year for road fatalities, 223 deaths – unfortunately we have already exceeded last that number. There have been 229 deaths on Queensland roads so far this year.
The timing of this announcement is important as we head into the Christmas, New Year period which is usually a bad time for car accidents. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, please take care on the roads this holidays.
