More Queensland women and girls to Get Out and Get Active

16 September 2015 –

The Queensland Labor Government has launched the latest round of the Get Out and Get Active program. As part of the program local councils will receive funding to provide local, accessible, and affordable activities over the next 12 months to encourage more women and girls to get involved in sport and active recreation.

The program will target traditional team sports like netball, basketball, rugby league, individual sports like athletics, as well as less structured options. The program is focussed on encouraging greater participation by women and girls in sport.

The Queensland Government will provide up to $20,000 for an individual project with local councils also chipping in with a contribution.
