2 September, 2019 –
The Queensland Government is seeking your views on proposed changes to the Child Protection Act 1999. Following some priority amendments made in 2017, further changes to the legislation are now being considered.
A discussion paper Rethinking rights and regulation: towards a stronger framework for protecting children and supporting families was recently released calling for submissions to inform changes to the legislation related to:
- reinforcing children’s rights in the legislative framework
- strengthening children’s voices in decisions that affect them
- reshaping the regulation of care — the system for approving foster and kinship carers and licensing care service providers.
The discussion paper provides you with an opportunity to give your feedback on possible changes to the legislation. To view the discussion paper and for more information visit www.csyw.qld.gov.au/cpaconsultation
