The Queensland Government is supporting CARRS-Q’s latest safety campaign ‘hand in hand, let’s go places.’ The campaign is all about children – particularly children aged 3-9 who are at risk of becoming involved in pedestrian/vehicle accidents.
Research shows that until the age of nine, children’s perception and cognitive abilities aren’t developed enough to allow them to make safe judgements when dealing with traffic. It’s hard for them to accurately judge distances and speeds.
Lack of sufficient adult supervision has been identified as a key factor in children’s pedestrian injuries. hand in hand, let’s go places is all about raising awareness of the risks and providing some helpful tips to parents.
