Grants available for employers hiring mature aged workers

Back to Work Mature Age Boost

30 January 2018 –

Applications are now open for the Back to Work, Mature Aged Worker Boost. Payments of up to $20,000 are available to eligible employers who hire an eligible unemployed mature aged jobseeker (aged 55 years or over) in Regional or South East Queensland between 1 January 2018 and 30 June 2018.

The Palaszczuk Government is committed to assisting jobseekers from groups traditionally facing disadvantage in the labour market, including mature-aged workers.

This expansion of the highly successful Back to Work program will assist more mature-age people by bringing the mature-aged payments into line with the current $20,000 Youth Boost payment for young jobseekers.

Many jobseekers over 55 struggle re-entering the labour market and the mature-age boost aims to overcome some of the particular challenges and barriers they face.

Back to Work encourages employers to have the confidence to take on a new employee, creating more jobs for Queensland while supporting local businesses.

The Mature Age Boost Payments are available through both the Back to Work Regional Package and the Back to Work SEQ Package.

Back to Work South East Queensland is a $27.5 million initiative designed to give businesses the confidence to employ long-term unemployed, unemployed youth (15-24 year-olds) and mature aged (55 plus) jobseekers in South East Queensland (SEQ).

This program aims to facilitate unemployed jobseekers into the labour market and support them to create a strong connection to the labour force.

Employer Support, Youth Boost and Mature Aged Worker Boost payments are available under these guidelines to SEQ employers who meet all the program eligibility criteria.
