Free apprenticeships for Queenslanders under 21

5 August, 2019 –

The Palaszczuk Government is backing business and giving young Queenslanders access to gain a valuable qualification for free, to build a career in the industries where we know there will be jobs.

Free apprenticeships for under 21s will cover the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence or are undertaking a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2023.

This $32 million investment in free apprenticeships means businesses won’t have to bear the cost of training a young Queenslander across 139 apprenticeships and traineeships – this can be a saving of up to $3,000.

Qualifications on offer include traditional trade areas such as electrical, plumbing and engineering as well as non-trade areas such as healthcare, hospitality and early childhood.

It’s all part of our Skills for Queensland strategy to deliver the next generation of skilled workers and back local businesses to grow and create more jobs.
