Seniors can now access free independent legal advice as part of the State Government’s response to a Parliamentary Inquiry into the adequacy of existing financial protections for Queensland seniors.
Over the next 18 months, $600,000 has been allocated to 10 existing Seniors Legal and Support Services (SLASS), including Brisbane Seniors Legal and Support Service in South Brisbane.
Financial abuse is one of the most common forms of elder abuse in Queensland, and these new services will give seniors access to specialist financial advice on aged care contracts, family agreements and other financial affairs.
