Deafness Foundation – Education Encouragement Award nominations and Grants program

Deafness Foundation grants and awards

The Deafness Foundation aims to improve wellbeing and promote equality for people who are deaf and hard of hearing. The Foundation’s 2019/20 Grants Program and Encouragement Awards are now open for applications/nominations.

The Grants Program provides funding to organisations for projects that positively impact on people who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Previous successful projects include installing hearing loops in community spaces, development of resource materials, and early education programs for school students.

There are two Education Encouragement Awards categories for inspiring and outstanding young adults who are deaf or have a permanent hearing loss in both ears:

  • Secondary Student Awards

    $2,000 each. Open to to students currently in Years 10 or 11 at time of nomination and who will be in Year 11 or 12 the following year.

  • Post-Secondary Student Awards
    $3,000 each. Open to students currently in Year 12 at time of nomination or students currently enrolled in Post-Secondary studies, including University, TAFE Institutes, Apprenticeships and Traineeships. Students must be studying in the year following nomination.
