STATE MEMBER FOR STAFFORD

August is the official start of bushfire season

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services

8 August, 2019 –

Bushfire is less of a threat in Brisbane’s northside, nonetheless it’s good practice to clear out leaves and foliage from the roof and gutters (being VERY mindful of powerlines); mow the lawn regularly, and remove dead leaves and branches from around homes.

Around the state, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services is continuing its hard work in bushfire mitigation – through hazard reduction burns, community education and fire breaks.

The Palaszczuk Government’s record $740 million Budget commitment to QFES means that staff, including firefighters, volunteers and their support networks have access to the best equipment, training and communications for the season ahead.
