$17 million boost for sports infrastructure

8 March 2016 –

An additional $17 million has been made available for sporting clubs and recreation groups to build new infrastructure or upgrade existing facilities.

Organisations can apply for infrastructure funding grants of between $300,000 and $1.5 million.

This extra funding has been made available because of the number and quality of projects put forward by groups right across Queensland during the registration of interest process. Basically there were just too many good projects – so extra funds have been made available.

This funding is for large upgrades such as installing lighting and major building refurbishments. The Queensland Government hopes to support 50 new projects right around the state and I’d love to see some of them in our area.

Submissions close 29 April 2016. For more details visit www.qld.gov.au/recreation/sports/funding/getinthegame/getplayingplus

If your organisation is thinking of applying please contact my office – I’d love to have a chat with you about it.
