This week is National Palliative Care Week, Palliative Care Australia is running events and awareness campaigns across the country with the aim of breaking the taboos around dying and getting people to talk about death.
The campaign is using the theme: Dying to talk; talking about dying won’t kill you. The idea is to normalise death and dying and to help people become more comfortable talking about their wishes and needs as they near the end of life.
Palliative Care Australia says that too often people don’t feel comfortable talking about these issues and so lack the confidence to make their wishes known to health workers and family.
