18 July 2016 –
I’m encouraging the public housing community’s green thumbs to get involved in the annual My Home Awards.
The awards recognise people who go above and beyond to connect with their communities by creating gardens and caring for them.
There are more than 50,000 families and single people living in public housing dwellings across Queensland and nearly 3,500 on the Northside.
The awards cover a range of gardens – from traditional home gardens to balcony and edible gardens – so every tenant can enter no matter what type of home you live in.
More than 500 households entered last years competition and more entries are expected this time around. The competition has also added new categories including waterwise gardens and a children’s category to encourage budding young gardeners.
For more information or entry forms visit www.qld.gov.au/housing or visit the Chermside Housing Service Centre.
