26 April 2016 –
Somerset Hills and Stafford Heights State School students will be able to connect to the internet faster than ever because of a new partnership between the Palaszczuk Labor Government and Telstra.
This partnership is connecting an extra 450 Queensland state schools (including Somerset Hills and Stafford Heights State Schools) to the high speed fibre optic cable network. When finished this will bring the total number of connected Queensland state schools to more than 1,000.
High speed internet is such a valuable tool for students, it gives them access to the world and helps get them ready for the digital jobs of the future especially through STEM subjects including coding and robotics.
Somerset Hills and Stafford Heights will have their current internet speeds more than doubled and will be connected during semester one next year.
