11 April 2016 –
Local North-side community groups can apply for up to $5,000 to hold an event during Disability Action Week 2016 (11 to 17 September) or on International Day of People with Disability (3 December).
The grants are available through the Queensland Government’s Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services.
I encourage local groups to think about hosting an event and applying for these grants.
The grants are looking for events that promote:
- mainstream and business sectors to engage with people with disability and their families to enable people to achieve economic goals.
- partnership and community action to encourage and strengthen access and inclusion of people with disability in employment and economic activities.
- positive portrayal of people with disability as equal participants in the social and economic life of Queensland communities.
